Nutritional Therapy To Your Rescue

I consider myself to be a Nature worshipper. Nature takes care of everything -- she creates, she empowers, she nourishes, she eliminates all that is unnecessary and has the power to destroy what is not part of her plans. Today we seem to have moved far away from respecting the power of nature. Modern science and technology while meticulous in inventing medicine and machinery have forgotten all the natural medicine. Nature created to protect us. I consider Food is Medicine because when there was no "documented, researched and proven science" man turned to Nature and used his innate intelligence to take from her creations, ingredients that soothed his wounds, cured his diseases and protected him from infections.

Nutritional Therapy draws from this very basic concept of using nature derived Whole Foods diet to make every individual achieve a balanced ad healthy life. Human body was created to heal itself given the right nutrients and environment neccesay to thrive. That environment is not just external, which is a very important factor, but also is internal. Hippocrates said all disease begin in the gut and today, modern science confirms that there is a gut brain connection. The signals to the brain or from the brain are subtle but carry a very important message. The symptom is an indication that an issue needs to be addressed - be it a deficiency or a dysfunction. A body in balance is like a well oiled machine. All its parts work in symbiosis and any one kink in the assembly can throw all of it out of sync. As an NTP, upon evaluation, I strive to empower you with tools to live a symptom free life. Be it disorders of the digestive system, fatigue or pain, diabetes, thyroid issues, anxiety, depression or stress nutritionial therapy can help. For whether you are suffering any injuries, recovering from surgery or going through treatment for any serious conditions, Nutritional Therapy is a great way to support your whole body by making it internally stronger to withstand the challenges of the therapy you are in.

Now that Fall is here -- with a promise of showing you how beautiful nature can be - ushering in cooler climes, warmer colors, soothing broths and the time to prepare for the hard winter. Falling leaves show you how comforting it can be to simply let go! Let go of the summer indulgences and guilt there in, let go of the ego and prejudice, let go of self inhibiting ideas and pre conceived notions. Instead embrace the bounties of the new season, the oppurtunity to pause and plan for life ahead and reflect on where life is at, at this moment. The changing weather however brings with it a host of new viruses making colds and flats rampant. There is a lot you can do to protect yourself from the infection or rid your self of one with help from you own "Therapy Kitchen."

Minerals and Vitamins when supplemented appropriately go a long way in building your immunity. Including mineral rich bone broths and vitamin rich vegetables provide nutrients needed to fight the viruses. Colds are called a cold because the cooler temperatures aid in the proliferation of the virus. Raising your body temperature helps you get rid of the infection. Warm liquids and warming foods like ginger, garlic, black pepper, herbs like oregano and rosemary, holy basil, or tulsi contain beneficial anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory properties.

Here is a receipt down below for a Nourishing Bone Broth that you can make a staple in your diet for coming months. Its full of all the warming spices and minerals from the bones that are so good in warding off a cold. I use it on it's own, in soups with vegetable sand meats or as a base to cook my vegetables or rice in.

Nourishing Chicken Bone Broth Recipe

1 Whole organic pasture raised Chicken

Sea Salt and Pepper to taste

2 tbsp ghee or butter

2 large carrots

1 stick celery

4 cloves garlic (more if you like)

1 inch piece ginger

1 medium onion- quartered

8-10 black peppercorns

2 tbsp organic Apple Cider Vinegar

Salt to taste

Wash and pat dry the chicken. Rub butter and salt and pepper inside and out.

Stack chicken in a roasting pan and roast at 400F for about an hour or more till it is thru.

Cool it down enough to handle, carve off the meat off the bone.

In a large crock pot or Instant Pot Pressure cooker throw in the chicken bones and vegetables and spices. Pour in enough water to cover the chicken - approximately 2- 1/2 qts. If using stove top pot- cover and simmer for 6-8 hours.

If using an instant pot pressure cooker- cook on normal pressure for 60 minutes. Let the pressure release normally.

When cooled you should be able to see a gelatinous thickness in your broth which is the healing collagen and minerals. Strain through a sieve and use the broth. You can add more herbs and spices. Organic non GMO soy sauce or better still coconut amino to flavor the broth before serving. Enjoy the delicious goodness warm.

(I hate throwing away the vegetables - often times I just puree it and make it into a soup!)
