Vijay Shankar, MBA, Psy.D.
Vijay Shankar is a licensed psychologist who specializes in treating anxiety, mood disorders (excluding bipolar), and depression. He is co-founder of the LifeQual Center. Dr. Shankar offers individual and group therapy, and is an Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) trainer, as well as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor. He received his doctorate of psychology at Pacific University, completed MBSR training with senior staff at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Mindfulness, and trained in ACT with Steven Hayes. He incorporates mindfulness as a foundation of his approach. His life practices constantly inform his work, including silent meditation retreats, hiking from India to Amsterdam, and fifteen years of corporate business experience. Vijay is widely traveled in Asia, Europe and Africa and has a commitment to cultural diversity. He is a past chair of the Advisory Board of the School of Professional Psychology (2011/2013) and is a member of the Anxiety Disorders Clinic. Besides the LifeQual Center in Beaverton, he also has offices in NW Portland and in Lake Oswego.
