"Let me be your Sports Medicine Advocate.
Listening to you is the first step in your evaluation and treatment."
Cathy McElevey, atc/fafs.
Cathy has been in the field of sports medicine for 25 years. Her experience started at Portland State University treating athletes in football, M/W soccer, basketball, wrestling, and track. Cathy loved her years traveling with sports teams and evaluating acute on-field injuries and getting the athlete back on the field as quickly as possible. She saw first hand how past injuries build compensation patterns that could lead to future injuries if not taken care of. After working at the collegiate and professional level, Cathy worked at Nike World Headquarters for the last 15+ years where she grew the corporate sports medicine program. She loved treating the Nike employee/weekend warriors! She kept busy evaluating and treating a broad range of injuries, from acute on-field to overuse injuries and post-operative rehabilitation.
Given this range of experience, she has developed a whole-body approach to identifying and treating not just your injury, but also the dysfunctions that could contribute to future injuries and pain. Through listening and understanding your goals, she will build a plan for returning you to a greater level of performance; recovering from an injury or surgery. Maybe you want to prevent future injuries or move better with less pain and limitations.
Cathy is rolling out a new in-home program called "SPORT" (Specialized Post-Operative Rehabilitation Team). Are you preparing for surgery and want to maximize your recovery? Sometimes you’re not sure if you are doing all you can once you’re home. With an in-home visit, you will jump start your recovery prior to your first rehab appointment. During your session we will check range of motion, answer questions, and assist with home exercises. A progress note will follow you to your first in-clinic appointment. This ensures a smooth transition and communication between your healthcare providers.
Cathy lives in Beaverton with her husband, and they enjoy all sports and outdoor activities, particularly skiing, golf, hiking, and biking. She has a passion for travel and has been many places around the world. Her next target on the bucket list is Africa and the big 5!
We offer the GAMEREADY cooling system for post-operative and training recovery.
